10 Tips For Staying Productive While Working From Home

Many of us have had to navigate working from home during this global pandemic. This article will show you how to combat fatigue and stay productive through the whole work day.

Keep To A Morning Routine

Create a morning routine that helps signal to your body that it is time to get to work. Get ready as you usually would for the work day. Yes, this also includes getting out of those pajamas. Do whatever you have to do to keep your routine as similar as you can.

Stick To A Schedule

Figure out which hours will work best for you to start working and then when  to call it a day. This is a great way to keep that work-life balance strong and to avoid getting too fatigued.

Create A To-Do List

Making a to-do list is a great way to keep you organized, motivated, and  productive. Create short-term goals and long-term goals that you want to complete. This means you could figure out what needs to get done that day, during the week, and even during the month. Breaking up long-term goals into smaller pieces to complete throughout the work day is a great way to avoid procrastinating. Checking off the goals you complete is a great boost that will keep you more productive.

Schedule Breaks

You will get fatigued while working remotely. There is no question about that.  So, when you are feeling burned out and unproductive, take a quick break to get on social media or walk around. This will allow you to get back to work and feel ready to get back to work again. Make sure to take these breaks in their entirety and to get away from your work at the moment.

Get Out Of The House

Getting outside is a huge energy boost. You need to get that sunlight. Whether it is to take a jog or get the mail, that fresh air and natural light will do wonders.

Have A Dedicated Office Space

Dedicate a specific spot in your home as your work space. Whether this is the kitchen table or your personal office, you need a place to signal that it is time to get to work.

Socialize

Isolation and loneliness are some of the difficulties with remote work. Remember to communicate with your colleagues everyday in order to check in on their work progress and to feel more connected with them at this time. Make sure to tell them your schedule and repeat yourself. Verbal communication can stick better than written communication, so over communicate your progress on work tasks.

Look For Training Opportunities

There are many great opportunities to get professional development online. Ask for company training services or find subjects that would help you through sites like Coursera or Udemy. This will help you to learn necessary skills and to become more up-to-date with new industry practices.

Be Positive

Every day is not going to be perfect. Remember to not get down on yourself. Everyone is adjusting to this difficult time. Remind yourself that every day is a new day to be better. Cut yourself slack, even if you do not end up meeting all of those goals.

End The Day With A Routine

Just as you need a morning routine, an evening routine is also important to keep in mind. Create a habit that signals that you are done working for the day. This could mean turning on Do Not Disturb for work communications or taking a walk. Take a break and relax when you are done for the day. You have certainly earned it.

Even though times are difficult right now, working remotely can become a lot less stressful as you follow these tips.
